About LifeCell
India's first private cord blood bank, LifeCell facilitates the cryogenic preservation of umbilical cord blood stem cells at its unique facility in Chennai in South India. The company was started in 2004 in collaboration with CRYO-CELL International Inc. - the world's largest and oldest stem cell bank. CRYO-CELL International Inc was established in 1992 and has more than 1,30,000 cord blood units banked successfully.

LifeCell has been granted the prestigious AABB Accreditation. AABB (American Association of Blood Banks) is an international non-profit organization dedicated to developing the highest standards in blood and cord blood banking, transfusion medicine and cellular therapy. The accreditation assessment includes stem cell processing, cyro-preservation records, document control, inspection and testing, training of lab technicians, sample identification and traceability and verification of cord blood units when released from storage. With this accreditation LifeCell becomes the "First and only Cord Blood Stem Cell Bank in India to have procured the prestigious AABB accreditation".

The Research and Development division of LifeCell has been recognized by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), Govt. of India. With this accreditation our adherence has been formally recognized by the Govt. and this is a boost to promote further research in Stem Cell and to collaborate with other national institutions of excellence.
